Rachel Ambasing - Pastoral Director

Rachel Ambasing

Rachel was born and raised in South Bay San Diego and grew up attending St. Matthew's. She has fond childhood memories of reading books in the church courtyard while not-so-patiently waiting for her mother and father to be done with their vestry meetings, which lasted "like, forever." As an adult, Rachel attended Academy of Art University in San Francisco where she studied writing and design for multi-media, developed a love for art history, gained experience in event coordination and photo shoot production, and interned as a Fashion Marketing assistant.

Somewhere between then and now, Rachel moved back home to San Diego, and to St. Matthew's. She dreams of creating brave spaces for folks to explore, develop, and share their unique and God-given voices, creativity and talents. Rachel also sings, plays the piano, and, on occasion, struggles to play the organ at St. Matthew's. She enjoys writing, star gazing, yoga, and meeting new people.
